The Problem
No Swahili, so no way to agree a fair fare
No way to verify who's driving them
Pressure and harassment at arrival
Download another app, learn another interface
Losing 25-30% to ride-hailing platforms
No reputation system to reward good service
No English, and no visibility to incoming tourists
Hours idle, no tools to reach customers
For Travellers

The Zanzibar pilot runs a simpler version of this, and the terms on the Zanzibar site are the ones that apply to a ride booked there.
Type your destination and when you need the ride. That's it.
“Airport to Stone Town, Tuesday 3pm”You write in your own language. We speak to the driver in Swahili, agree the fare, and come back to you with the price and the vehicle.
Happy with the fare? Pay the fixed $2 translation charge to lock it in. You get your driver's name, car details, and a pickup PIN. Pay the fare itself directly to the driver.

* Going direct: driver keeps 100% of the inflated tourist markup, and you are negotiating without local knowledge, language, or leverage. The fare itself is higher.
** Fairer price for passengers but not drivers and still higher than going direct with local knowledge.
† Beagle: driver keeps 100% of the negotiated fair-market fare. Nothing comes out of the driver's share. The traveller pays a fixed $2 separately for the translation service, not a percentage.

Trust & Safety
We know what the route costs locally and we hold the driver to it. You see the fare before you decide, not after.
Driver has a QR code. You have the PIN. Check it matches before you get in. Works offline, no internet needed.
The fare is agreed with the driver before anything is booked. You see the price, then you decide. Nothing is confirmed until you say yes.
Every interaction recorded in your chat. Fare agreed, driver confirmed, pickup details sent. Full transparency.
Where We Operate
Every ride-hailing platform must build a network from scratch. We don't. WhatsApp is already the network. We just need driver numbers and local knowledge. Days of setup, not months of burn.
600,000+ tourists/year. Airport transfers, day trips, beaches, island tours.
The pilot runs a simpler version of what this page describes, by hand and with a small number of drivers. The fuller picture here is where Beagle is going.
zanzibar.beagle.taxi →Drivers hate platform fees. Tourists need reliable, fair transport from day one.
Payments
We speak to your driver in Swahili and agree a fair fare on your behalf.
Pay the fixed $2 translation charge by secure card payment to lock it in.
Meet your verified driver. Check the PIN. Enjoy the journey.
Pay the rest directly to your driver. Cash, card, or mobile money.
The translation charge is what you pay us for speaking to the driver and agreeing the fare. It is a fixed $2, not a commission and not a percentage, and it does not vary with the journey. It is charged separately from the fare, so nothing comes out of the driver's share. It is non-refundable, and it confirms to the driver that the booking is genuine.
